Lionel Messi has reached yet another career milestone on Sunday, scoring his 400th La Liga goal for Barcelona against Eibar at the Camp Nou.He hasn’t seemed to want to stop scoring ever since he opened his goal tally for the Catalan giants in 2005 against Albacete, and seems no closer to stopping 14 years on. We’ve gathered his very best La Liga goals to celebrate the occasion – and here’s to many, many more.
BATON ROUGE, LA – OCTOBER 13: LSU Tigers huddles up before a game against the Georgia Bulldogs at Tiger Stadium on October 13, 2018 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images)No. 13 LSU is hosting No. 2 Georgia at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. this evening. The Tigers are off to a good start against the College Football Playoff favorite Bulldogs. It’s LSU 16, Georgia 0 through two quarters. The Tigers have looked dominant on defense, stopping a Jake Fromm-led Bulldogs’ offense from doing anything. Joe Burrow, meanwhile, has helped lead the Tigers on some nice scoring drives. Can LSU hold on for the upset?ESPN believes the Tigers will. The Worldwide Leader’s computer model has LSU holding on for a big win in the second half.ESPN’s Football Power Index currently gives No. 13 LSU a 79.1 percent chance of holding on for the win against No. 2 Georgia in the second half.Georgia will need to make some major adjustments in the second half, especially on offense. Some fans are calling for a change at quarterback, asking for five-star freshman Justin Fields. He entered for one play in the first half, but quickly exited. It’ll be interesting to see how loyal Kirby Smart is to Fromm in the second half. The second half should begin shortly. It’s being televised on CBS.
COLUMBUS, OH – SEPTEMBER 1: Nick Bosa #97 of the Ohio State Buckeyes celebrates after recovering a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown in the second quarter against the Oregon State Beavers at Ohio Stadium on September 1, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)Ohio State is 7-0 on the season and ranked No. 2 in both major polls. The Buckeyes appear to be a legitimate national championship contender.Ohio State hasn’t had star defensive end Nick Bosa in the lineup since he was injured in Week 3 against TCU. This morning, the program confirmed reports that Bosa won’t be returning to the team this season, and will instead focus on rehabbing his groin/abdominal injury and preparing for the 2019 NFL Draft. The Buckeyes have been well-covered in Bosa’s absence, thanks in large part to sophomore defensive end Chase Young and veteran defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones stepping up. However, at least one ESPN analyst thinks not having Bosa will be the death knell for OSU’s title chances. This afternoon, ESPN’s David Pollack said he thought the Buckeyes could win it all with Bosa, but he “[doesn’t] see it happening” now.I thought Ohio State cld possibly win a National Championship with Bosa, without I don’t see it happening. Best player in the Country.— David Pollack (@davidpollack47) October 16, 2018Now, Ohio State may be 4-0 without Bosa, but three of those wins were against Indiana, Minnesota and Tulane. Penn State was the only top 25 team they beat in his absence. Will the lack of Bosa cost the Buckeyes against Michigan and Michigan State in the last five weeks of the season? We’ll find out. My feeling is they can still win the national championship without him, but there’s no doubt he leaves a major void.Even if OSU survives the Wolverines and Spartans, not having Bosa could be costly against Clemson or Alabama in the College Football Playoff. His ability to rush the passer and make plays would have come in handy against Tua Tagovailoa or Trevor Lawrence. If Bosa wasn’t the best player in the country like Pollack said, he was probably top-three at worst.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – NOVEMBER 17: A football rests on the pylon prior to the game between the South Florida Bulls and Temple Owls the at Lincoln Financial Field on November 17, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images)Temple is looking for a new head coach less than two weeks after it hired Manny Diaz. Diaz has returned to Miami to take over as the head coach after Mark Richt retired. This is a less than ideal situation to be in for the Owls, but they do have a number of different options at their disposal. They could promote assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Fran Brown or go outside and hire one of the defensive coordinators they interviewed before deciding on Diaz. One of those defensive coordinators was Ohio State’s Greg Schiano. Schiano could be looking for a new gig now that Urban Meyer will no longer be in charge of the Buckeyes.Schiano’s name has already been brought up by several media members. The previous Temple search included a lot of big-name DCs.Don BrownMike ElkoTodd OrlandoGreg Schiano— Ralph D. Russo (@ralphDrussoAP) December 31, 2018Greg Schiano sure would be a great fit at Temple— Luke Zimmermann (@lukezim) December 31, 2018While it has become sort of a running joke to suggest Schiano’s name for every vacancy at this point, he actually doesn’t seem like a bad fit at Temple. He’s from New Jersey and previously turned Rutgers around, and he should be able to sell the program well. However, Schiano’s defenses at Ohio State left something to be desired, and he hasn’t been a head coach in five years or a college head coach in seven. We’ll see which direction Temple goes.
